The Rural Affairs Team are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information following the theft of five Dutch Spotted ewes from the Scorriton/Buckfastleigh/Holne Area. The sheep are reported to have been stolen sometime between 1:00pm and 5:30pm on 6 OCTOBER 2026. We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area during this time and may have seen any suspicious vehicles, activity, or people. We would also like to hear from anyone who may have information about the current whereabouts of these sheep. Anyone with information is asked to contact Devon & Cornwall Police via our website or by calling 101, quoting crime reference number 50260268649. Even information that may seem insignificant could assist our enquiries. Thank you for your support. Livestock theft can have a significant financial and emotional impact on farming businesses. Farmers are encouraged to regularly check stock, maintain accurate and up-to-date records, and ensure livestock are clearly identifiable through official tags and markings. Secure gates with robust locks, consider using CCTV and appropriate lighting around handling facilities and access points, and report any suspicious vehicles or people to Police promptly. Working closely with neighbouring farmers and sharing information can also help identify suspicious activity and protect rural communities from crime. If you can get involved in a group chat, this might be worth considering, or setting something up locally. |
